Luke 8:24-25 (NKJV)
‘And they came to Him and awoke Him,
saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He
arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and
there was a calm. 25 But He said to
them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marvelled, saying to one
another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they
obey Him!’
Jesus took time talking to
the multitudes and his disciples, explaining to them the principles of God,
teaching them about the kingdom and the will of God, but they never understood
him. Every time they met obstacles and challenges, they could not draw
knowledge from his lessons to activate their faith but they always called unto him for help. He
always wondered where their faith was? (Luke 8:25)
Likewise as Christians, God has spoken to us in various
circumstances, through His word and prophecies but we never have faith in the
words that we receive. Every time we meet challenges and obstacles, we
keep wanting to get more prophesies, more prayers at every turn without activating the faith in the words that we received earlier.
Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) teaches us that; "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen."
The prophesies that
we have received is the evidence of things not seen but a confirmation of what
God's plan is towards us. The book of
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) says that;
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word
of God."
Most people lift their faith but faith
is non-existent without God; for it begins with Him and by hearing from
the word of God - Rhema word; so faith is not a risk undertaking but
it comes by hearing from God. And when you hear and
act accordingly, you see victory. Many desire to lift their faith - do things
by faith without hearing first from the author of our faith (Hebrews 12:2); and when they hit a
dead-end, they play the blame game. Many
people venture into various projects and end up struggling to support them with
their own strength. Why? Because they didn't hear from the Alpha and
Omega before doing so, because when God speaks, He surely performs and, even sustains and finishes what He started. If you
don’t want to be disappointed, don't rush to venture in to something before you
hear from the author of faith. If you are not sure about something you want to do
or haven't heard, go to a servant of God who can hear; don’t do
things impulsively - whenever you hear first from God and then act, you will be
victorious. When God sends you somewhere or to do something, He goes
before you - if He sends you to Masaka, before you set-off for the journey, He
will already be at your destination.
When you hear the word of God in any form, have faith that it shall come to pass and it shall
not go back to him empty. The bible assures us in Isaiah
55:10-11 (NKJV) that;
“For as the rain
comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the
earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And
bread to the eater, 11 So shall My
word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it
shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I
sent it.”
Let us not
be only followers but believers and doers of the word. For faith without actions
is dead - faith is God's word activated. James 2:18 (NKJV) says;
‘But someone will say, “You have
faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will
show you my faith by my works.’
