NUMBER YOUR DAYS
Pr. Geoffrey Kibombo
Psalms 90:12 (TLB)
“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.”
The year 2019 is winding up and we need to thank God for it been a year of remembrance and reward; and the last quarter is going to be a resurrection season. You should therefore learn to speak positively to the situations that come your way; if you are facing a challenge, you should speak to that situation and assure it that in due time God will lift you up, because God fulfills His word. The bible says in Luke 1:37 (AMPC) that;
“For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.”
There are things we are expected to do to cause what God has spoken in our lives to come to pass, and we can’t do them unless we know them. David said in Psalms 90:12 (EXB) that; “Teach us [Make us know] how short our lives really are [to count our days]……..”
You need to understand what it means for you to number your days, so that you can be able to put them to good use. Our Rhema word this year is – a year of remembrance and rewardGod has timelines and when the right time comes, he sermons the book of remembranceTherefore if you want the year to go well for you, you need to sit and examine your life; if you want to realise your blessings and win the battles ahead, you will need to appraise and examine what was working against you in the previous year including the failures you encountered so that you are able to go through 2019 victoriously and realise the promises you have received from the Lord. The scripture in Psalm 90 above means that if you want to see the blessings out of the few days God has given you, you need to do what is required of you by your Creator; the few years you have to live should be beneficial - to magnify Christ and further His kingdom and thus no single minute should be wasted.
You should number your days first by a self evaluating your past or background - examine your past challenges and things you excelled at and take note of them. Once you identify the challenges, weaknesses and failures then you will be in position to know what to fight against. What did you fail at in the past? What are your weaknesses? What conquers you?
God spoke words of blessings in Genesis 15:13-14 (AMPC)
“And [God] said to Abram, Know positively that your descendants will be strangers dwelling as temporary residents in a land that is not theirs [Egypt], and they will be slaves there and will be afflicted and oppressed for 400 years. 14 But I will bring judgment on that nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.”
God spoke of the years ahead in which Abram’s descendants would realize blessings; that they would be taken into captivity for 400 years but after this they would come out blessed. And the nation that had oppressed them would instead become a blessing in their lives; however, they wasted 30 years and therefore increased their time in captivity by another thirty years. Exodus 12:40-41(TLB) narrates;
The sons of Jacob and their descendants had lived in Egypt 430 years, and it was on the last day of the 430th year that all of Jehovah’s people left the land.”
One of the things that led them into the excess years is that they didn’t number their days. This year we do not have any days to waste and in order to achieve this, we need to learn to number our days. How can you ensure that you do not waste the years or the words that have been spoken in your life?

Be Pastored and Have a Local Church
1 Samuel 17:55-58 (AMP)
“When Saul saw David going out against the Philistine, he said to Abner the captain of the army, “Abner, whose son is this young man?” And Abner answered, “By your life, O king, I do not know.” 56 The king said, “Ask whose son the young man is.” 57 When David returned from killing [Goliath] the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand. 58 Saul asked him, “Whose son are you, young man?” And David answered, “I am the son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem.”

The first thing we need to do is to put things right. We need to sit under the leadership of a spiritual father - Pastor. A couple of Christians do not belong to any specific local church. Much as you find churches filled with believers, a number of them are not pastored - don't have a local church. This is because they are spiritual vagabonds; they are constantly on the move from church to church, fellowship to fellowship without being rooted anywhere - you must be pastored and belong to a local church, that is one of the secrets you need to know and it reduces on some of the problems you may face ahead. Many problems we face are as a result of not being pastored – we do not have spiritual fathers who nurture, edify, mentor, and guide us. You have got to submit to someone under the anointing, you need a spiritual parent who will speak in your life. Some of the funny habits and behaviors people have are a result of not belonging anywhere. Keep in mind that there is victory you can attain depending on your home church.
We read in 1 Samuel 17 that after David killed Goliath, King Saul asked whose son David was. Saul did not ask about David’s might or his experience at war but who his father was. Saul wanted to know David’s origin. Just like the same way you carry yourself in life, it’s a reflection of where and how you were raised.
There are some blessings in life we shall not be able to attain unless we belong to a local church. Even for the Israelites land was distributed in order of the different tribes. Joshua 14:1-2 (MSG) says;
“Here are the inheritance allotments that the People of Israel received in the land of Canaan. Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the family clans made the allotments. Each inheritance was assigned by lot to the nine and a half tribes, just as God had commanded Moses.”
Every church is a clan and the pastor represents a particular clan; each pastor was equipped in a unique way in which he will release the blessings for his clan or tribe. We learn from the scripture above that every Israelite received according to his clan
Every church represents a clan and each clan has a portion of blessings assigned to its Pastor. There are certain blessings you will not realize unless if you belong to a local church. In other words you should be under a particular anointing or governed by a certain covenant - the covenant which you belong is able to lead you into your blessing. You need to be pastored and guided in your local church. The 12 clans of Israel each had a designated source of blessings. If you do not belong to any clan then you would not benefit from that clan’s blessings.
There are blessings and victories that you will not be able to attain until you are under a covenant. In the Mosaic covenant we learn that in the battle against the Amalekites, whenever Moses’ hands went down, the Israelites would fire their arrows amiss and vice versa. The bible says in Exodus 17:11-13 (NLT) that;
“As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.  12 Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. 13 As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.”
Many times we make excuses and blame our failures on the past years, however, each year has its promise and we must partake of that promise. There are promises that will not wait for the year to end, and so you should correct your mistakes, look unto God and activate your faith in order to enter into them - one way to ensure this is by belonging to a local church and accepting to be taught and guided by the servant of God – Pastor; however some people seek their own guidance but the bible says in Psalms 23: 1-3 (AMPC) that;
“The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. 2 He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. 3 He refreshes and restores my life (myself); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.”
Many people face challenges in life because they are not guided; naturally sheep are short-sighted and can’t see far, that is why they need a pastor who is foresighted to lead them to greener pastures. Secondly a pastor has a rod – to guide the sheep and a staff – to chase away lions and bears. God is going to perfect that which he spoke in our lives but what will make all this possible is if we are guided by those he appointed to lead us – to be pastored is to be led
You should therefore be under a covenant if you desire to succeed. There are problems you will face because you are influenced by each and anybody or church. A person who submits under someone is covered and protected, therefore stop wandering and sit down. Have a local church and spiritual father.

Mend Your Walk With the Lord
2 Corinthians 4:16 (EXB)
“Though our physical body [outer person] is becoming older and weaker [decaying; being destroyed], our spirit inside us [inner (person)] is made new [being renewed] every day.”
The second thing you need to do is to work on your relationship with God. Once you do this, you will have started to number your days and thus none will be wasted. We have many promises upon our lives but one thing that has the saving hand of God is our unhealthy spiritual lives; we are disobedient, filled with hatred and jealousy, we steal the tithe, sow discord among our friends and do many other things contrary to what governs God’s kingdom; we say we love God but don’t love his servants or follow his instructions which is total hypocrisy – you can’t love the King and don’t love His kingdom. Renew your relationship with God. We are speaking of new things in the physical yet our relationship with God is tainted and thus needs to be renewed - repent and walk uprightly. This is a new year and our mindsets and character should be renewed to bear that of Christ. Some people misinterpret their close relationship with their pastors or being close to the anointing and think it’s the same with the Lord
Every day we renew our spiritual lives – we confess our sins ask for forgiveness and forgive those who have hurt us. Guilt, bitterness and resentment will only contaminate you. Isaiah 59:2 (NLT) warns;
“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”
God is faithful and because of this He has already given all of us an opportunity to be well in life, so ensure that you do not waste any of your years in salvation; work on your relationship with Him because he never forgets his children. If you have a good relationship with Him, then He will never forget you: He assures us in Isaiah 49:15 (GNT) that;
“Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you.”
A right standing with God is a core element in our lives – with Him in us, we are guided and there is no wastage of time.
Your blessing is not far from you. However just like the Israelites, grumbling will yield wasted years. It does not necessarily take a year or month for God to reward you or resurrect whatever is dead in your life, he can do that in a day, but your relationship with Him is going to contribute to this. The bible says in Proverbs 8:20-21 (NASB) that;
“I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice, 21 To endow those who love me with wealth, that I may fill their treasuries."
His pathway is one of righteousness, so if you have not constructed or prepared it, where will you meet God to give you what he promised in 2019? By asking God to teach him to number his days, David knew that its only God who can orient and guide him so that he can live purposefully according to God’s will without wasting time.
Many will blame the wasted years on God complaining that he has not blessed them yet it they played a big part to that effect. The Israelites wasted 30 years and God was not responsible for that wasted time. Ensure not to waste even one month in 2019. Ask God to teach you to number your days and take the necessary measures to work on your relationship with Him.
Therefore in consideration of His promises, if you still behold the polluted character and mindset of 2018, your problems will instead increase, but if you want God's promises or prophesies to manifest in your life; if you want to be remembered and rewarded; if you want the Resurrecting King to resurrect the dead thing in your life, then your Salvation life should be renewed and match the likeness of God.
New anointing is poured into a new wine-skin, because new anointing in an old wine-skin is a problem, and that is why your relationship with God should also be renewed every day. The bible says in Matthew 9:16-17 (NLT) that;
“Besides, who would patch old clothing with new cloth? For the new patch would shrink and rip away from the old cloth, leaving an even bigger tear than before. 17 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.”
Ask God to teach you to number your days to avoid wasting years in Christianity. Know your failures and start working on your diabolical deeds and character; there are many things you will discover you have not done right - review and rectify your life; for this will help you be victorious. Number your days so that this year and beyond you do not have any wasted years.
Let God teach you to number your days so you can put them to good use.
