RHEMA WORD
Pr. Geoffrey Kibombo

Isaiah 55:11 (AMPC)
“So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

In Greek etymology, the word Rhema means ‘an utterance’ or ‘thing said.’
Rhema - spoken word is that word which the Holy Spirit brings to our attention with application to a current situation or need for direction. In most cases, a Rhema word received by; prophesy or reading the Bible applies to a current situation or need. In essence, it is timely and extremely valuable in a Christian's walk with God. Jesus confirmed this point when he said in John 6:63 (ESV) that; "……..The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Logos is the Greek term translated as 'word,' 'principle,' or 'thought.' It also refers to a universal, divine reason or the mind of God.
Logos - written word refers principally to the total inspired word of God. The bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (MSG) says that; “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. 17 Through the Word we are put together and shaped for the tasks God has for us."

When God speaks, the scripture helps us to prove it. The written (Logos) word confirms the Rhema (prophetic) word. Every word that comes from God through his servants carries anointing and creating power. The Rhema word is got from;- servants of God inform of a prophecy, through dreams or visions and Holy Spirit.
The Rhema word aligns you to your destiny but if you don't confess it, you will not reach your destiny. Every time you confess the word of God, you activate its power to push you into your blessing.

Difference between Rhema and Logos Word
  • The Rhema word is specifically given to a person but the written word is general.
  • Rhema means spoken word, and Logos means written word
  • Rhema word contains power and Logos word is only black letters in white paper
  • Rhema is subjective and Logos is objective
  • Rhema word is particular (to a situation) and Logos word is general

The word of God is inactive until its creating time - right time when it fulfills what the Maker sent it to do; it never goes away until it has accomplished its task as stated in Isaiah 1:55 above. If you become too busy for God and do not permit Him speak in to your life, you may leave this world without seeing His will for your life - the Rhema word is pivotal for a believer in knowing the plan God has upon one's life. Affirm the Rhema word because every time you confess it, you cause angels to bring it to pass; every problem, challenge and sickness bows before the word of God.

The number one problem that prevents our Rhema words from coming to life is unbelief; God is calling us to believe not to grumble or reason His word. At times when the heart believes, the mind reasons the word which gradually leads to compromise and disbelief; but do not permit your mind to water-down that Rhema word which has been spoken into your life, however, believe it wholeheartedly and you shall see it come to life; don't give God timelines and deadlines, He is your Lord and creator not vice versa.

Those that trust in the Lord shall not be ashamed. Just remind God of his word in prayer; give him no rest until he establishes and makes you praise in the earth. Isaiah 62:6-7 (AMP) says; “ I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night; you who [are His servants and by your prayers] put the Lord in remembrance [of His promises], keep not silence, 7 And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth.”
Go back and, revisit all the Rhema words and resurrect them.
